“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.” – Martha Graham
The world is changing and it’s changing fast. Our ability to reach the masses in a matter of seconds while speaking a raw and unedited truth is a gift and a responsibility. The path that has been calling on me for nearly a decade has finally reached the point of fearless eruption. Why did it take so long you might ask? Because I didn’t think that I was good enough.
Some days I feel like a modern day goddess; beautiful, smart, sensual and balanced. Other days I feel like I have absolutely nothing to offer this world.
My work, my path, and my purpose are all rooted in this strange concept that the truth is beautiful, no matter how ugly and crippling it feels in the mind.
”I have a strange combination of fearlessness and massive insecurity.” ~Penny Marshall
I’ve been in therapy for two years, I have read every self -help book worth reading, designed my very own vision board, written affirmations over and over again and then taped them to the mirrors in my home, feng-shui’d my apartment, survived a 7 day green juice cleanse, practice yoga on a the regular, balanced my chakras, cleansed my body, painted my monsters, turned pain into poetry, and for fucks sake, I walked on fire. Every single one of these details and experiences provided insight and inspired movement, growth and change…… but nothing has rocked my world into complete and total transformation like the alchemy of love and truth.
Love yourself, tell yourself the truth. Check your motives, your intentions and your integrity. Are you living from fear or love? Sit with the anxiety and discomfort that the truth typically brings with it, and observe before you react or respond. Give yourself permission get a little uncomfortable.
“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.” ~Gloria Steinem
I don’t have it all figured out yet and I don’t know if I ever will, but I do know that there is a light that never goes out, no matter how dark it may seem at times.
I am good enough….and so are you!
Love and fireflies,
